Which Navara Do You Have?
The Navara nameplate has covered a lot of ground across three generations in Australia. Each one has its own exhaust requirements, so let's break it down by model.
Nissan Navara D22 — The Indestructible One
The D22 is the old school Navara body on frame, simple and built to last. It came with two diesel engines in Australia: the 3.0L ZD30 in earlier models and the 2.5L YD25 common rail from 2008 onwards. Both respond well to exhaust upgrades, and both have been popular platforms for us over the years.
For the ZD30 D22 (2002–2007), our 3" Turbo Back Exhaust is the full solution. Mandrel bent 409 stainless from the turbo outlet to the tip. If you're doing a staged build or just need to address the dump pipe we also offer the ZD30 Dump Pipe as a standalone.
For the YD25 D22 (2008–2016), our 3" Turbo Back Exhaust is purpose-built for the common rail engine. The YD25 is a strong engine that really wakes up with a proper exhaust better spool, lower EGTs and noticeably more response under load. The YD25 Dump Pipe is also available separately.
Nissan Navara D40 — The Mid-Generation
The D40 brought independent front suspension and a more refined package but it also introduced a complication that catches a lot of people out the D40 was built in two different factories (Thailand and Spain) and the exhaust routing is different between them. Getting the wrong system is a frustrating and expensive mistake.
We build dedicated systems for each: the 3" Turbo Back for the Thai-built D40 (2007–2015) and the 3" Turbo Back for the Spanish-built D40 (2007–2015). Both are 409 stainless, mandrel bent, bolt-on. If your D40 has a DPF and you want to keep it in place, our DPF Back Exhaust for the D40 (2008–2015) replaces everything from the DPF back a solid upgrade without touching the emissions equipment.
Nissan Navara STX550 — The V6 Diesel
The STX550 is a different beast a 3.0L V6 twin-turbo diesel that was Nissan's flagship Navara for a period. It's a smooth, powerful engine and it sounds genuinely good with the right exhaust. We offer both a 3" Turbo Back Exhaust for the full upgrade and a Cat Back Exhaust if your front pipe and turbo section are still in good shape.
Nissan Navara D23 NP300 — The Modern One
The D23 NP300 is the current generation Navara and it's a more sophisticated vehicle than its predecessors. The 2.3L YS23 twin-turbo diesel is a modern common rail engine that's sensitive to exhaust backpressure free it up and you'll notice the difference in how the turbos spool and how the engine pulls through the rev range.
For the full upgrade, our 3" Turbo Back Exhaust for the D23 NP300 (2015–On) is the go-to. Please note that this upgrade is only for off-road, farm or mine use. If you want to retain the DPF, our DPF Back Exhaust for the D23 NP300 (2015–On) replaces everything from the DPF back a meaningful upgrade that keeps your emissions equipment intact.
Why Upgrade Your Navara Exhaust?
The Navara is a working vehicle for most of its owners. Here's what a quality exhaust upgrade actually delivers in the real world.
Lower EGTs Under Load
Whether you're towing a trailer, running a heavy tray or just grinding through corrugated tracks in the heat EGTs are the number one concern for Navara diesel owners. A free flowing 3" system moves exhaust gases out faster keeping temperatures in a safe range and protecting your engine when it's working hard.
Better Turbo Response
Every diesel Navara engine benefits from reduced backpressure. Less restriction means the turbo spools faster, throttle response sharpens up and the engine pulls more cleanly through the rev range. It's one of those upgrades you feel immediately not just on a dyno.
Stainless Steel That Lasts
The factory exhaust on most Navara's is mild steel. It rusts, it corrodes and eventually it fails especially if you're doing water crossings or running in coastal conditions. Our systems are built from 409 stainless steel which handles the heat cycles and the harsh Australian environment without corroding out on you.
Bolt-On Fit, Australian Made
Every system we build is engineered and manufactured in Australia designed to bolt directly onto your Navara using the factory mounting points. No cutting, no custom fabrication, no waiting months for something to arrive from overseas.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my D40 is Thai-built or Spanish-built?
The easiest way is to check the compliance plate on your vehicle it will show the country of manufacture. Thai-built D40s were the more common variant in Australia but Spanish-built examples were also sold here. If you're unsure your Nissan dealer can confirm from the VIN. It's worth getting right before you order as the exhaust routing differs between the two.
What's the difference between a turbo back and a DPF back exhaust?
A turbo back system replaces everything from the turbo outlet to the tip, including the DPF section. It's the most comprehensive upgrade and delivers the biggest performance gains, but it does remove the DPF. A turbo back is available for off-road, farm or mine use only. A DPF back system replaces everything from the DPF outlet back, leaving the DPF in place. It's a good option if you want to retain your emissions equipment or if your DPF is still in good condition.
Do these systems fit without modification?
Yes all of our Navara systems are bolt-on replacements using the factory mounting points. No cutting or custom fabrication is required. We recommend a professional install particularly on the D40 where getting the correct build variant (Thai vs Spanish) is important for fitment.
What warranty do these systems carry?
All of our stainless steel exhaust systems carry a 5-year warranty. We stand behind the quality of our materials and workmanship.
