Performance Benefits

The 3" mandrel bent design is specifically sized for the Courier's 2.5L WL-T turbo diesel engine, providing optimal exhaust flow and significantly reducing back pressure compared to the restrictive factory system. You'll experience improved throttle response, better power delivery throughout the rev range, and enhanced fuel efficiency. The complete turbo-back design maximizes performance gains, with noticeable improvements when towing, loaded, or climbing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the outback exhaust improve performance on my Courier?

Yes, the 3" mandrel bent turbo-back design reduces exhaust back pressure significantly, resulting in improved throttle response, better power delivery, and enhanced fuel efficiency. Most customers report noticeable improvements in drivability, especially when towing, loaded, or climbing hills. The 2.5L WL-T engine responds particularly well to the complete turbo-back system.

How does the outback exhausts sound?

The outback exhaust produces a deep, refined tone that's noticeably sportier than stock without being overly loud. It enhances the diesel character while remaining comfortable for daily driving, highway cruising, and work use. You'll hear a satisfying growl under acceleration with minimal noise at cruise.

What's included in the 5-year warranty?

The Outback Exhausts 5-year warranty covers manufacturing defects, material failure, and weld integrity under normal use. It does not cover damage from accidents, improper installation, modifications, or extreme abuse.

Do I need to tune my vehicle after installing the outback exhaust?

No tune is required. The outback exhaust works perfectly with the factory ECU calibration and will provide noticeable improvements on its own. However, many customers choose to add a tune later to maximize the performance benefits of improved exhaust flow, especially for towing and heavy-duty use.

How long does shipping take?

Most orders ship within 1-2 business days. Delivery times vary by location: metro areas typically receive orders within 3-5 business days, while regional areas may take 5-7 business days.

Can I install the outback exhausts myself?

Yes, the Outback exhaust is a bolt-on system designed for DIY installation. You'll need basic hand tools, jack stands or a hoist, and 2-4 hours. However, professional installation is recommended if you're not confident working under your vehicle.

What's the difference between turbo-back and DPF-back?

A turbo-back system (like this one) replaces the entire exhaust from the turbo outlet to the rear, including the catalytic converter. A DPF-back system only replaces the exhaust from the DPF outlet back. The 1998-2006 Courier models did not have DPF systems, so turbo-back is the appropriate configuration for maximum performance gains. This system includes a high-flow cat and muffler / resonator.

Will the outback exhaust rust?

Our 409 stainless steel construction provides excellent corrosion resistance for Australian conditions. While 409 stainless may develop some surface discoloration over time (especially in coastal or high-humidity areas), it will not rust through like mild steel exhausts. This is why we can confidently offer a 5-year warranty.

What does the muffler / resonator do?

The integrated muffler / resonator helps control and refine the exhaust note, eliminating unwanted frequencies and drone while maintaining a deep, sporty tone. It ensures the exhaust sounds great under acceleration but remains comfortable and quiet during highway cruising and daily driving.

Will the outback exhausts fit newer Ford Ranger models?

No, this system is specifically designed for the Ford Courier (1998-2006) with the 2.5L WL-T engine. It will not fit newer Ford Ranger models, which have different engines and exhaust configurations. Please contact us if you need an exhaust for a newer Ranger - we have specific systems for various Ranger generations including PX, PXII, PXIII, and Next Gen models.
